Canal Boat Holidays In the heart of Cheshire

We spent a wonderful week on Serenissima at the end of October.  We have had many canal boat holidays, most of them usually falling short of what they offered, but not this time.  From your first dealings with Phil and Maxine at Venetian Hireboats, you just know that they are going to deliver exactly what they say they will. Whether you are new to canal boating, or have some experience but need a bit of a refresher, Phil will happily spend time taking you out and through the first lock before you depart to help you feel 100% ready for the off. The boat was so well equipped, clean and comfortable. The best bit is undoubtedly the bed. Usually the double beds are about 4′ wide….It’s a toss up as to whether you have your face pressed up against the side of the boat or you are hanging on to the side spending most of the night awake to stop yourself falling out! Neither option is appealing but it just isn’t an issue here. Really big comfy bed and a great night’s sleep.

To finish, Phil and Maxine (and the rest of their team) have just got it right. They are so friendly to deal with and help at the drop of a hat. We did have to call the 24 hour number one night just after 11.00pm with a small issue, (which turned out to be nothing serious). The call went to voicemail and I wondered if the 24 hour line was for real – no problem, we received a call back from Roger within 2 minutes, problem solved and all was well.

Finally, a special mention for the lovely Dave, Phil and Maxine’s dog. He joined us for our refresher session before we set off and does an amazing rendition of Swing Low Sweet Chariot….along with Phil….!  Maxine seems happy to leave it to them…!

I would most certainly recommend Venetian Boats 100% and we definitely want to hire from them again. Thanks to all for a great time and all the lovely extras in the fridge. It all makes life easier and was much appreciated.
